To ensure you can participate fully in our live sessions, please complete the following checks at least 3 days before the course start date.

1. Device and Operating System

We recommend using a desktop or laptop computer for the best experience.

  • Windows: Windows 10 or 11 (Home, Pro, or Enterprise; S Mode is not supported).
  • macOS: One of the three most recent versions (e.g., macOS 13, 14, or 15).
  • Processor: Dual-core 2GHz or higher (Intel i3/i5/i7 or AMD equivalent).
  • Memory (RAM): Minimum 4GB (8GB recommended for optimal video performance).

2. Internet Connection

A stable broadband connection is essential.

  • Minimum Speed: 1.5 Mbps upload/download for 720p HD video sessions.
  • Recommendation: Use a wired Ethernet connection if possible, or stay close to your router if using WiFi.
  • Test Your Speed: Use a tool like Speedtest.net to verify your connection meets these requirements.

3. Audio & Video

  • Webcam: A functioning built-in or USB plug-in webcam is required for all sessions.
  • Audio: A headset with a microphone is highly recommended to reduce background noise and prevent echo for other participants.

4. Software & Platform

  • Platform: Ensure you have the latest version of Zoom installed on your device.
  • Browser: If joining via a web browser, please use the most recent version of Safari, Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.
  • MacOS Users: If using Safari, ensure you have granted permission for the browser to access your camera and microphone in your "System Settings."
  • Test Link: Visit the Zoom Test Meeting to verify your camera and microphone are working correctly.

5. Environment

  • Space: Find a quiet, well-lit space where you will not be interrupted. Please refer to our Safeguarding policy and Online Participant Code of Conduct for age-group specific advice and requirements.
  • Power: Ensure your device is plugged into a power source to avoid battery failure during live delivery.
